Phytotherapy
In China, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) uses pharmacopoeia in about 70% of cases. Several hundred plants and minerals are used in decoctions, powders, lozenges, granules and capsules. Some of these plants are known from Western pharmacology, but often different parts of the plants are used. In general, the use of plants is part of Chinese culture. The food bowl in Switzerland generally consists of meat and dairy products (of animal origin), whereas in China the emphasis is on soy and different plant varieties. These cultural differences explain the different eating behaviours and, consequently, care techniques. Plants are very important in food and treatment in China.
